Sift: Privacy Policy

At Sift Studio, we believe your financial life is your business. Sift is a Personal Finance Management (PFM) tool built with "Privacy by Design." It is a Local-First application, meaning your sensitive financial data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

1. Local Data Processing

Sift does not operate a central database or cloud storage for your budget data. All information you input is yours to control.

  • Financial Data: All income, expenses, and plans are stored in an encrypted local database on your device. We have no access to this data.
  • No Account Requirement: Sift does not require an account, email address, or phone number for its core functionality.

2. Diagnostics and Stability (Firebase Crashlytics)

To ensure Sift remains reliable, we use Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) to monitor application health.

  • Data Collected: If the app crashes, we receive technical stack traces and device metadata (e.g., device model, OS version).
  • Privacy Guarantee: These reports do not contain your financial data, salary, or personal information. They are used exclusively for debugging and are automatically deleted after 90 days.

3. Third-Party Services & Billing

Transactions are handled natively through the Google Play Billing system.

  • Purchase History: To verify your purchase, we receive a transaction status from Google. We do not see, collect, or store your payment card details.
  • Security: All communication with these native platform services is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS protocols.

4. Global Privacy Rights

We respect international privacy standards, including the GDPR. Regardless of your location, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access & Portability: You can view all your data in the app or export it to CSV format at any time.
  • Right to Erasure: You can delete all local records instantly by uninstalling the app or clearing the app storage in your device settings.

5. Data Deletion and Management

Since we do not host your data, "deleting your account" is as simple as removing the app from your device. For purchase history, please manage your records directly via the Google Payments Center.
